Competitive Soccer

WMSA is a partner with the Greater Sudbury Soccer Club GSSC offers competitive soccer to children aged 8-18 in the City of Greater Sudbury.

WMSA encourages and supports any children and youth who are interested in playing competitive soccer. 


WMSA will offer a 100% refund on fees should a child make a GSSC team after registering with WMSA.  Children and youth are able to play both WMSA and GSSC if they are interested.


Any family interested in competitive soccer for their child is encouraged to contact GSSC for more information on try-outs and teams.

Refund policy

If a refund is requested before the season starts, a full refund (minus an administrative fee) will be granted. The administrative fee for 2016 is $25.00.

 

If a player withdraws before June 15, 2016, a refund of 50% will be granted, provided the full uniform is returned.

 

No refunds will be granted after June 15, 2016.

 

Any player who registers with WMSA and tries out for a competitive team will receive a full refund if they make their competitive team and choose not to play in the WMSA.

 

Late registrations are subject to a non-refundable late fee of $20.

There are a total of seven divisions for 2016.

2014

  • No full size games will be played.
  • This division will focus on skill development and learning.
  • Maximum of 64 players only
  • Play Tuesday and Thursday from 6-7pm at Lively High School.
  • For safety reasons, no playing up in U6 is allowed.

U6

2012 or 2013
  • Players play Mini Soccer on mini-fields.
  • Some rules are different than in soccer that is played on full fields.

  • Play Monday & Wednesday from 6-7pm at the Kinsmen Sports Complex.
 U8
(under 8)
2010 or 2011
  • Players play Mini Soccer on mini-fields.
  • Some rules are different than in soccer that is played on full fields.

  • Play Tuesday & Thursday from 6-7pm at the Kinsmen Sports Complex.
 U10

2008 or 2009
  • Players play Mini Soccer on mini-fields.

  • Play Monday & Wednesday at 6:00pm-7:15pm or 7:15pm-8:30pm at either the Naughton Community Centre or RH Murray Public School.

  • Soccer is played on a full-sized soccer field.
  • Play Tuesday & Thursday at 7:15pm-8:30pm at the Kinsmen Sports Complex or Azilda.
 U15
(under 15)
2003, 2004 or 2005
  • Soccer is played on a full-sized soccer field.
  • Play Monday & Wednesday at 7:15pm-8:30pm at the Kinsmen Sports Complex or Azilda.
 U18
(under 18)
2002, 2001 or 2000
  • Soccer is played on a full-sized soccer field. 
  • This division will play against Espanola and other clubs within Sudbury (i.e. Rayside-Balfour, Valley East, Nickel Centre, Greater Sudbury Soccer Club).  Travel to these areas will be required.
  • Locations and times for games will vary.  Home games will be at the Kinsmen Sports Complex. Games will include one weeknight game and a Sunday evening (Kinsmen Sports Complex).
